The LoraxWhat is the car made of? The car is made of a lightweight fiberglass frame, and is painted with Methacton's trademark green. Seventeen batteries, scattered throughout the car, provide the Lorax's power. How fast can the car go? The Lorax can travel at speeds up to about 85 MPH (roughly 137 KM/h). How much does the car weigh? The car is about 2150 pounds, including the batteries. It is relatively light in comparison with other cars because it only has three wheels, which simplifies the design greatly. How many miles per charge can the car get? In the past we have driven 94 miles on one charge, however, with the addition of another battery we hope to break 100 miles per charge. Why only three wheels? Not only does it look cool, having three wheels is a great advantage for one major reason. The car is lighter with only three wheels, creating less friction, and thus requiring less energy to produce momentum. |
